Perhaps the accomplishment of which Ron is most proud is his achievement of the CCIM designation in 2003.  He was the Oregon/SW Washington CCIM Chapter President for 2007.

What Is a CCIM?
Often referred to as the "PhD of Commercial Real Estate", the CCIM designation is recognized for its preeminence within the industry.  A Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) is a recognized expert in the disciplines of commercial and investment real estate.

The CCIM curriculum represents the core knowledge expected of commercial real estate practitioners.  It consists of four core courses

• Financial Analysis
• Market Analysis
• User Decision Analysis
• Investment Analysis

The completion of these courses requires over 200 hours of graduate level class time with the best real estate instructors in the world.  Disciplines studied include time value of money, internal rates of return, discount rates, advanced financing principals, taxation, demographics, site analysis, leasing, and more.

Following the course work, candidates must complete a portfolio of qualifying transactions or consultations showing a depth of experience in the field.  Once the portfolio has been submitted, reviewed, and approved the candidate must pass a final comprehensive exam to earn the designation.  The process ensures that CCCIMs are proficient not only in theory, but also in practice.

After receiving the designation, CCIMs join an elite corp of over 7,500 professionals around the world networking together and continuing the education required to stay current in a dynamic and ever changing real estate world.  CCIMs include not only brokers, but investment counselors, asset managers, appraisers,  corporate real estate executives, property managers, developers, institutional investors, commercial lenders, attorneys, bankers, and other allied professionals.

Through this business network and through enhanced communications and tools provided by the CCIM electronic network, CCIMs close over 156,000 transactions per year representing a dollar volume of over $400 billion.
